The method of drug administration that involves inhaling substances through the nose is known as snorting. This process allows the drug to enter the bloodstream rapidly through the mucous membranes in the nasal passages, providing a quick onset of effects. Snorting is commonly associated with various powdered drugs, including certain stimulants and opioids.

In contrast, inhalation typically refers to the act of breathing in through the mouth or nose, generally associated with vaporized substances or gases rather than being a specific nasal administration method. Buccal administration refers to placing a drug between the gums and the inner lining of the cheek, allowing it to dissolve and be absorbed through the oral mucosa. Rectal administration involves the insertion of a drug into the rectum, where it can be absorbed by the body. Each of these other methods has distinct characteristics and routes of administration that differentiate them from the process of snorting.
